Since my election to the Council in 2020, I have served as Vice Mayor, Fire Commissioner, board member of the Central County Fire Department, and a member of the Hillsborough “Housing Advisory Committee”. My scientific background and solutions-focused philosophy have enabled me to critically analyze issues to find solutions. 

I have worked with residents, staff, and fellow council members, to find viable solutions to meet our state mandate for 554 additional housing units by 2032. During these deliberations on housing, I resisted the recommendations to “Upzone” the entire town and build a High-rise apartment at our “Town Hall site”. Instead, I spent many hours studying the issue, researching reasonable solutions, until I uncovered solutions that allows us to build on town-owned sites, in a manner that preserved the character of the community. 

I have worked with residents and staff to ban “Gas-powered leaf blowers”, remove harmful pesticides from public spaces including our schools, promote vegetation management and fire-abatement measures, and advocate for utilizing technology to prevent burglary and crime. 

I have demonstrated my ability to work with the community to find sensible solutions to the issues facing us.

If re-elected, I intend to focus on:

☑ Continuing the work on planning and housing development, while protecting the unique   characteristics of Hillsborough.

☑ Promoting efforts to improve telecommunications and wireless services throughout the town.

☑ Investing and replacing aging infrastructure, to build stronger resiliency in the face of climate change. 

☑ Maintaining fiscal discipline and continuing to support our police department and fire departments.

After practicing as an internal medicine physician in San Mateo County for over 35 years, I now dedicate my time to working as a consulting physician, and a volunteer physician at Samaritan House Free Clinic in San Mateo, while serving the community in the Hillsborough City Council. Over the years, I have served on several community organizations, including Samaritan House Foundation Board of Directors, San Francisco Village Board of Directors, California Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Skidmore College and my Medical Degree (MD) from Yale University School of Medicine. I am the proud mother of two adult children, who are graduates of Hillsborough schools. In 1996, my husband and I moved our young family to Hillsborough, and we are grateful to call this place our home.
