Elect Laurie Davies Adams for Hillsborough City Council

My family believes in service, hard work, giving back to our community, and improving life for everyone.  I would be honored to serve as your Councilmember and respectfully request your vote.”

As a three-decade resident, I value Hillsborough’s uniqueness and will serve with diligence, fairness, and innovative thinking on Immediate priorities seen through the lens of fiscal responsibility, following the law, safety, and impact on the community. A few initial priorities are:

  • Housing – The certified Housing Element has given Hillsborough a good start in planning for new housing in the community. My goal is to ensure that the Housing Element is communicated effectively, fulfilled in a timely and integrated manner, and that thinking about the next round of housing begins now.

  • Water – The need for water is critical to all Californians, and an increased emphasis on solutions to secure safe, abundant, equitably-priced and delivered water to our community is a priority. I enthusiastically support the Highline Plan, a significant project initiated by our Dept. of Public Works which will increase safety and benefit our community.

  • Cell service – Approaching cell service as a matter of safety for all residents is the place to re-start this issue. The Council has made this a Town priority; focusing on achievable objectives informed by the input of technical experts, data, and an emphasis on technology will help us realize OUR goals.

More priorities will surface and will be dealt with in a manner that supports Hillsborough as a great place to live, raise a family, and retire; electing objective, experienced professionals will help maintain our rightfully high standards.

As a community volunteer, I served for many years on Hillsborough’s Boards of Little League, AYSO Soccer, Nueva School (Parent Group President), and Crystal Springs Uplands School; I moderated fire safety and housing discussions for the San Mateo Conflict Resolution Center; I served for many years as a member of the Hillsborough Auxiliary to the Family Service Agency of San Mateo County.

As President of a nonprofit (pollinator.org) for decades, I worked successfully with local, federal, and state governments. My experience includes projects for USDA, EPA, World Bank, OAS, the White House, the State of California, Laguna Honda Hospice, On Lok Senior Center, St. Anne’s Home, the Jewish Home and other local sites. Across the U.S., I worked with major corporations, universities, farmers, gardeners, and schools, and worked productively with the Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden administrations at Cabinet levels.

As a Councilmember, I bring strong skills: fiscal know-how, strategic thinking, design, willingness to listen, and effective communication. Endorsed by every Hillsborough Councilmember, all past Councilmembers, and constituents from teenage voters to families and seniors, I have no hidden agendas, nor representation by any industry or special interest group. I bring a fresh approach informed by dozens of interviews with Hillsborough leaders and citizens. I highly value collaboration; it is equally important that I bring balanced, well-considered, and independent perspectives to the Council.

As a Neighbor and Friend, my greatest achievement is my extraordinary family; my husband of 44 years, Chick Adams, and our two incredible sons and their wives, Chase and Jessica Adams, and Will Adams and Carly Weil.  I enjoy my great Book Club (30 years and counting), and working out at the Burlingame Pure Barre Studio.  I am a Giants fan and luckily have video confirmation.  I hope that my ability to be a Councilmember will bring great results for our Town and add to my enjoyment of living in this extraordinary town by being of service and meeting a whole new group of residents.
